Expected Fees
The full fee for the entire process ranges from $38,000 to $48,000.
Includes-
Legal Contracts for both the Intended Parents and the Surrogate in the State of California outlining the intent that the Intended Parents are in fact the parents and the payments of compensation and medical expenses for the surrogate.
Medical insurance that covers a surrogate pregnancy and co-pays/deductible
Court Filing fees and legal paperwork preparation in order to obtain a Pre-Birth Order naming the parents as the legal parents to be placed directly on the Birth Certificate at birth. This court order is applied for at approximately 20 weeks pregnant and once in place allows the parents to make medical decisions for their child.
Monthly expenses including but not limited to; needed maternity clothes, doctor ordered vitamins not covered by insurance, mileage or lost wages/childcare for surrogate to attend appointments.
Surrogate compensation
Agency support and monitoring for during cycle and pregnancy.
The fee is broken into 6 payments.
Deposit- The first payment is due prior to Matching with a Surrogate.
First payment is due prior to contracts with chosen Surrogate. Usually about 4-6 weeks prior to start of cycle to sync surrogate and Egg Donor or Intended Mother. The above two payments include Agency fee, Legal Contract Fee, Deposit for Health Insurance prior to transfer, Deposit toward reimbursement of surrogate expenses.
Second payment is due at 8 weeks pregnant after Ultrasound showing heartbeat The above payment includes a portion of Surrogate Base fee, Insurance and health care payments for pregnancy, portion of reimbursement of expenses for pregnancy.
Third payment is due at 12 weeks pregnant to establish Pre-Birth Order The above payment includes legal filing and court costs for the establishment of the Pre-Birth Order
Fourth payment is due at 16 weeks pregnant The above payment includes a portion of Surrogate Base fee, Insurance and health care payments for pregnancy, portion of reimbursement of expenses for pregnancy.
Fifth payment is due at 24 weeks pregnant The above payment includes a portion of Surrogate Base fee, Insurance and health care payments for pregnancy, portion of reimbursement of expenses for pregnancy.
The possible fees not included are-
*Expenses (any lost wages or needed childcare) for long term doctor ordered bedrest. Long term would be three weeks or longer. Additional weeks beyond three would be capped at $350 per week of expenses.
*Multiples fee of $2500 for carrying an additional fetus. This fee if applicable would be due at 20 weeks pregnant.
*Medical expenses for pregnancy exceeding $4,100 included for Medical payments.
